Going Back to School with Clear Skin

Going Back to School with Clear Skin Azul Skin HealthUh, what happened to summer? Thanks for stopping by, that was a fun… minute. How is it August already?!?

The summer break never feels long enough, does it? Sigh. But before you know it, it’s back to the early-morning classes and the late-night cramming, to Friday evening games and Saturday evening shindigs. Meeting with your study group in the library, hanging out with friends in the cafeteria, playing disc golf at lunch breaks. Alright, yeah, we might not usually think of the end of summer as something to look forward to, but hey, going back to school isn’t all teachers and textbooks!

Whether you’re still in high school, got a couple years of college under your belt or you’re headed out for your first year away from home, there are so many new people to meet and old friends to reunite with that it can make your head spin! And many of these friendships can turn into relationships that you’ll want to keep long after graduation.

Whenever we’re entering into situations like this, it’s human nature to want to make the best impression possible. We want to present our best – our own personality, our own style. We spend the last of our summer getting some new clothes, sure, and maybe a new haircut and style, but those are “outside” things. We want our true inside to show, and it can be really frustrating when acne feels like it’s distracting from that. We want people to see us, not our skin issues. So yeah, we want healthy skin. (Btw, that feeling is normal for everyone, no matter how young or old you are, or what your skin issues might be.) But sometimes, it seems like that’s kind of a big ask.

Acne is irritating, no doubt. In more ways than one. Ask any of your friends (or yourself!) and you know you’ll hear, “Just make it go away!” And sometimes it seems like nobody gets it. Ask someone older and you might hear that acne is just something that you need to go through. “It’s part of growing up,” they may say.

Okay, but that’s only sort of true. Yes, lots of people do get acne. And sometimes getting it is unavoidable. But that doesn’t mean that you can’t do something about it!

There are things you can do, starting right this second. First, stress and sleep-deprivation are actually huge contributors to acne. So, take some time to relax, get some rest, and try to stay organized so you don’t need to do any all-night cramming! – make sure you get your eight hours. Second, water is your body’s primary weapon in clearing out impurities, so drink more water. Add a refillable water bottle to your back-to-school shopping list – you can even get one with a built-in filter – and carabiner it to your backpack. Third, consider coming into Azul for a free consultation to discuss your personal skin type, and letting us help you figure out what you can do to prevent your future acne, and deal with your current breakouts right now.

For some people, dealing with acne can require a little effort. Depending on your skin type and genetic predisposition, keeping your skin blemish-free isn’t always easy. This isn’t helped by the countless products out there that claim to deliver relief from pimples and other acne, but too often, can simply result in dry and irritated skin, or can even make your acne worse! Thanks!

The skincare wizards at Trilogy Laboratories have tackled this problem with gusto, though. They’ve brought incredible scientific research and innovation to the problem, and not only have they been through this issue themselves, they also have teenage and college-age kids who are going through it right now. So they’ve created two Azul SkinHealth Acne Systems to help get your acne under control, just in time for the new academic season!

Normal Skin Acne System

Our Normal Skin Acne System for most skin types is made up of four of our most effective and advanced products. Together, they will help cleanse your skin and keep your acne under control this upcoming school year.

Clear Skin Bar

Cleansing the skin can be a headache for a lot of people. Soap can be incredibly drying, while many off-the-shelf cleansers are filled with harsh artificial scents and chemicals. Our Clean Skin Bar is a soap-less cleansing bar that contains salicylic acid, one of the most effective ingredients in the fight against acne. It also includes honey, lecithin, Vitamin E and aloe, which all contribute to healing existing skin blemishes. The Clear Skin Bar has been one of the most popular products offered by Azul, and has built up a dedicated following over the past 15 years.

Citrus Scrub

Our Citrus Scrub plays a key part in keeping your skin clear of acne and other blemishes. It’s designed to gently buff away skin impurities, unclog blackheads and shrink your pores, using jojoba particles and mild fruit acids.

Botanical Toner with Green Tea

Green tea is a remarkable anti-inflammatory ingredient when used properly, like in our Botanical Toner. Including hyaluronic acid and other oil-free moisturizing ingredients, it’s perfect for tightening up the skin and removing any traces of cleansers or masks.

HA Serum with Peptides

HA Serum with Peptides is one of our most advanced skincare products, enjoyed by people with all different skin types. This all-in-one serum and lightweight moisturizer not only helps fight against acne, but also uses peptides and two forms of Vitamin B to boost collagen production, minimize wrinkles and revitalize the skin.

Oily Skin Acne System

If you suffer from oily skin, not to worry – we have another acne skincare solution specifically designed to help fight any acne breakouts! Our Oily Skin Acne System includes two of the products in the Normal Skin Acne System (the Citrus Scrub and the HA Serum with Peptides), but also has two secret weapons scientifically proven to unclog oily pores!

Salicylic Wash

When you have oily skin, clogged pores and pore size are always on your mind. Our Salicylic Wash unclogs these pores in a super gentle way, eliminating the bacteria that can cause acne. Including green tea, cucumber, dairy and hibiscus extracts, its anti-inflammatory properties will help soothe your acne-prone oily skin.

Gly Sal Pads

Azul’s Gly Sal Pads are the perfect way to keep your skin clean and acne-free. These pads contain therapeutic levels of glycolic and salicylic acid, to help clear out your clogged pores and gently exfoliate your skin. Although we recommend using only one at day at first, you can use up to three once your skin has adjusted. You can even take them with you for touch-ups throughout the day!

We can help give your skin everything it needs to minimize acne and radiate a healthy complexion! Along with our Normal Skin Acne System and Oily Skin Acne System, we also offer a number of other fantastic skincare products at azulskinhealth.com, every one of them formulated by Trilogy Laboratories.

And don’t forget about the skincare treatments that we offer in our Medical Spa (like the HydraFacialMD, a scientifically proven, super-fast treatment that can help give your skin immediate improvement).  We like to combine the HydraFacial with Peels to really give a one-two punch to acne.  Other non-surgical cosmetic procedures (including the minimally invasive, customizable, almost-no-downtime INFINI,) can really help take care of any acne scarring you may have gotten.

And just so you know, this stuff isn’t only for the ladies. Guys, we know you want to look good, too. That’s why Dr. Patrick Flaharty, who heads up Azul, created the Just for Men treatments (for example, laser hair removal for men). We make a point of ensuring that both men and women feel completely welcome, relaxed and comfortable here.
